Each year, volunteers help us provide services to over 15,000 individuals.
In response to the COVID crisis, our volunteer program is temporarily suspended. Please check back later for additional updates.
Volunteering in our Soup Kitchen
Amos House Dining Hall is open for meal service Monday thru Friday 7am to 8am for breakfast and 11am to 12:30 pm for lunch. We serve lunch every Saturday except the first Saturday of the month from 11am – 12:30 pm.
Volunteer shifts must be scheduled, available shifts are as follows:
- Breakfast, 6:30-8:30 am (served Monday thru Friday)
- Lunch, 9:00 am- 1:00 pm (served Monday thru Saturday)
Anyone who is looking for a meal is welcome in the Dining Hall. On average 200 – 300 people are served at breakfast and 350 – 400 are served at lunch.
While we greatly appreciate large groups willing to offer their time to volunteer, we can only accommodate up to 7 volunteers per shift. Please note, time slots fill up quickly. For more information on volunteering at Amos House, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone: 401-272-0220 x220.
Kitchen volunteers assist in preparing and serving meals to Amos House guests. Occasional assistance is needed in cleaning the kitchen as well.
We ask that volunteers wear long pants, closed toed shoes and/or sneakers. A hair net is necessary and can be provided, or a cap can be worn if preferred.
Soup kitchen volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and have the ability to lift 25 pounds.
If you are scheduled to volunteer with us for the first time, please fill out this intake FORM prior to your scheduled volunteer day.
