Volunteering
Each year, volunteers help us provide services to over 15,000 individuals.
Volunteering in our Soup Kitchen
Amos House Dining Hall is open for meal service Monday thru Friday 7am to 8am for breakfast and 11am to 12:30 pm for lunch. We serve lunch every Saturday except the first Saturday of the month from 11am – 12:30 pm.
Volunteer shifts must be scheduled, available shifts are as follows:
- Breakfast, 6:30-8:00 am (served Monday thru Friday)
- Lunch, 8:30 am- 12:30 pm (served Monday thru Saturday)
Anyone who is looking for a meal is welcome in the Dining Hall. On average 200 – 300 people are served at breakfast and 350 – 400 are served at lunch.
Group Accommodations
While we greatly appreciate large groups willing to offer their time to volunteer, we can only accommodate up to 5 volunteers per shift. Please note, time slots fill up quickly. For more information on volunteering at Amos House, email volunteer@amoshouse.com, or by phone: 401-272-0220 x220.
Duties
Kitchen volunteers assist in preparing and serving meals to Amos House guests. Occasional assistance is needed in cleaning the kitchen as well.
Attire
We ask that volunteers wear long pants, closed toed shoes and/or sneakers. A hair net is necessary and can be provided, or a cap can be worn if preferred.
Age
Soup kitchen volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and have the ability to lift 25 pounds.
